Job Description

Core Responsibilities:

The Digital Product Designer is responsible for a set of activities including: conducting initial user research, driving a solution vision based on business and user insights, designing desirable and intuitive multi-channel experiences, developing wireframes and visual designs, and iteratively validating solutions with users.

  • Advocate and fight for user-centric solutions with design ethics in mind​.

  • Use and conduct relevant user research activities which insights will inform on specific user needs. Analyze the task, and the context of use to adapt and simplify the experience.​

  • Create a common visual identity and consumer recognition across LEGO’s Digital Ecosystem and anchor it with key stakeholders and appropriate product teams to ensure consistency across multiple platforms, devices and channels.​

  • Design new solutions articulated through new end-user product concepts, storyboards, detailed interaction designs and screen flows, and prototypes​.

  • Create compelling visual designs aligned to company and product brand standards​.

  • Validate and optimize design solutions through concept and usability testing as well as tracking of user experience metrics, reports and analytics​.

  • Ensure design feasibility and implementation accuracy through actively collaborating as part of a cross-functional team.

The China Digital Tech department is a critical group setup for building up the core capabilities for LEGO digital transformation.

Do you have what it takes?

Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or equivalent working experience.

5+ years of hands on product visual design and user experience design experience.

Fluent in English and Mandarin in both oral and written.

Functional expertise:

  • Able to plan, conduct, and synthesize user research and usability testing.

  • Able to frequently test with kids and other consumer audiences to create world class digital consumer experiences.

  • Skilled at creating interaction design solutions, including static HTML/ CSS views.

  • Strong visual design skills, able to create compelling, branded, high-fidelity product screens.

  • Familiar working with design systems that consistently scale across platforms.

  • Consumer goods industry knowledge and enthusiasm is a plus.

Technical/Craft Skills:

  • Design capabilities, e.g. behavioral mapping/psychology, interaction design, CX storytelling, embedded product UX.

  • Research capabilities, e.g. A/B testing, design thinking, focus groups, usability research, user personas.

  • Strategic capabilities, e.g. digital product strategy, portfolio analysis and management, service strategy.

  • Tools, e.g. Abstract, Adobe Suite, Invision, Sketch.

  • Static front-end development, e.g. HTML, CSS.

Digital/Agile Experience:

  • Hands-on experience designing consumer applications for desktop, web, and mobile

  • Proven experience working in design teams in an Agile product development setting

Individual Skills:

  • Strong communication skills with ability to articulate the value of a design choice to users and non-designer stakeholders.

  • Creative problem solving and analytical thinking.

  • Able to produce high quality creative solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Previous experience in design digital products in retail/e-commerce industry is nice to have.
