Core Responsibilities

Our engineers work in interdisciplinary squads each arranged around clear product goals with responsibility for delivery of their own product roadmaps. Our teams are encouraged to work 3 days per week in the office. You will act as a member on a team of 57 other specialists :

  • Collaborate with product managers and other Application Engineers to identify and deliver both new functionality and iterative improvements that enable our product squads to build features on LEGO.com with ease.

  • Support teams building efficient and reusable capabilities and services using JavaScript/Typescript / Node.js / GraphQL / Serverless in AWS

  • Participate in code reviews

  • Focus on sharing knowledge with other engineers

  • Identify and resolve scalability and performance issues

You’ll spend your time working in one of our product teams focused on the LEGO.com Platform where we build capabilities to keep the core LEGO.com platform stable and performant while enabling product teams to deliver new features efficiently.

We have established a modern front-end architecture utilising Next.js, React, and GraphQL, alongside a cloud-native AWS serverless back-end. Our engineers leverage this platform to architect, develop, and handle our shopper technology infrastructure, ensuring it is robust, scalable, and efficient.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Commercial experience building microservices - our event-based services layer utilises Node.js and the Serverless Framework and is built mainly on the AWS Serverless stack – Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, Kinesis and DynamoDB to name a few

  • Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes and tooling to streamline and automate the software release cycle, ensuring rapid and reliable deployment of changes.

  • Experience with Terraform, AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK), or similar IaC tools to handle and provision infrastructure through code is helpful.

  • Experience with Site Reliability Engineering concepts including monitoring, observability, automation, and release engineering to create reliable and maintainable systems.

  • Must be attentive to detail, flexible and able to work concurrently on multiple projects

  • Ability to solve, research, and work through complex problems

  • Strong communication skills to convey technical improvements and articulate the value of infrastructure enhancements to other engineers and collaborators.
