The purpose of Research & Development, Packing and Packaging organization (R&D P&P) is to support and execute Engineering & Workplace (E&W) business plan by ensuring all new products are assembled and packed into optimal packaging in efficient manner on standardized equipment platforms. R&D P&P generally ensures foundation for global production of LEGO products by focusing on:

Development projects - Innovating and optimizing equipment platforms into next generation platforms by combining modern technology and consumer trends operating within 1-5 years’ time horizon with aim to deliver cutting edge innovation to The LEGO Group to maintain market leading position. Platform ownership – Leading, maintaining and standardizing of approved technology platforms by securing best practice sharing, process alignment and continuous improvement initiatives across all LEGO plants. Capacity and capability planning - Globally introducing new platforms to production sites and supporting its installations, ramp ups and handovers in respective locations to build relevant knowledge and establish self-driven independent factories producing on standardized platforms with globally aligned processes.

R&D P&P team located in Billund, DK and Kladno, CZ is responsible for packing platforms (equipment), packaging platforms (materials, constructions), product master data and global industrial engineering.

R&D Equipment Development team is entirely located in Kladno, CZ with global responsibility for packing equipment – prepack (machines for packing LEGO products into bags) & final pack (machines for packing LEGO products into paper boxes and other non-standard final packaging).

Core Responsibilities:

Drives projects according to LEGO Project Model (LPM):

  • Prepares and modifies project time plans according to gathered specialist knowledge and continuously changing environment.

  • Ensures resource alignment, load and allocation (project participants).

  • Secures project budget, approves project spending, escalates potential budget overspent and systematically manages changes.

Continually works towards project deliverables and organization’s KPI fulfillment.

Deals with suppliers, stakeholders and steering committees.

Defines and coordinates project teams, mitigates disagreements and escalates towards relevant line leaders if needed.

Actively handles project risks and opportunities towards desirable outcome for the company.

Identifies process and project areas suitable for optimization which would make us stronger and more efficient.

Ability to understand how machines work, how to set and troubleshoot them properly and overall passion for technology.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Overall work experience: 5+ years

  • (preferably in global environment due to daily communication in foreign language, dealing with diverse cultures, working across time zones)

  • Project management experience: 2+ years

  • (from overall work experience)

  • Interested in modern technologies and innovative consumer trends

  • MS Office 365 at advanced user level

  • Ability to read/understand technical drawings (AutoCAD, 3D models)

  • Self-driven, communicative and curious

  • Past experiences in technical development projects

  • Technical background about machines / equipment

  • Skills in Microsoft Project (mandatory use at The LEGO Group)

  • SAP experience at basic user level is an advantage

  • Willingness to travel up to 40 days / year

  • Business/project understanding
